3rd project for a typography class that's kicking my ass! approx. 9x7 ink on 14x17 bristol board. i don't doubt the value of hand-inking, but the prof is pretty adamant that we not use white-out type media. this means that one little accidental slip of the wrist can result in precious hours wasted. i understand the encouragement to build skill, but in the real world, i sincerely doubt a designer would scrap a project after 9 hours of work just because she pulled the pen a 16th of an inch too far.

it's black and white, but the flash gave the ink's reflection a warm tone. inked by hand with a rapidograph and some brushes. this is the fourth generation of the same image thanks to prof's rules. practice makes perfect, i hope. can't begin to guess how many hours i spent on it. probably should've slept before writing the labels - i think i had been up for 26 hours and the small writing is a bit shaky as a result.
the assignment was to create and label an interesting design of an assigned word while maintaining legibility - can you read it?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
